BBA//Fjeldco, World Bank and El Salvadoran authorities explore new geothermal energy legislation

BBA//Fjeldco‘s Energy Team recently attended meetings with authorities and stakeholders in El Salvador and representatives of the World Bank, to examine the need for possible legislative changes to ensure and support geothermal direct use in El Salvador.

BBA//Fjeldco has in recent years worked closely with authorities in various countries such as Ethiopia, Kazakhstan, Bulgaria, Bolivia, and France, to evaluate the legal environment for renewable energy sources. Our lawyers have also drafted legislative bills and regulations in the field of renewable energy, for governments of Djibouti in Africa and Comoros Islands in the Indian Ocean. Furthermore, BBA//Fjeldco is currently working an energy transition project, as a part of strong and diverse consortium of experts from across Europe, where BBA//Fjeldco will examine the European Union’s regulatory framework relating to the use of wind energy for electricity production on ships. Our Energy Team is also examining the use of geothermal heat for drying tea and coffee in Kenya, in collaboration with the Icelandic entity Intellecon.

BBA//Fjeldco has worked on several projects with the World Bank and the United Nations Development Program in relation to green energy regulatory enviornment.

When evaluating and drafting legislation in the field of reneawable energy, BBA//Fjeldco forms a collaborative group of Icelandic experts in the field of geothermal energy utilization. Our partners are ÍSOR, Verkís, Mannvit, Reykjavik Geothermal, Intellecon and other companies. In each project, BBA//Fjeldco also collaborates with a leading law firm in the country in question. The experience and knowledge that Icelandic experts have gained when it comes to harnessing renewable energy, in particular geothermal energy and hydropower, is used and relied upon all over the world.

We are extremely proud to be a leading law firm in the field of renewable energy.
